The CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN (CHC) initiative was established in 2001 to disseminate information to schools and educational institutions throughout the United States and other established countries. We seek to assist impoverished children around the world through the generosity of contributors, primarily children sponsoring other children.
Our primary purpose is to enhance human dignity and raise the physical and educational standards of living for all children to achieve health, happiness and a meaningful existence here on earth.
Our secondary purpose is to break the barriers of prejudice and to build a tolerant and compassionate network intrinsically established in future generations, the new leaders of this world, our children today.

For Kids

Dear students of all ages,

You are about to embark on an international journey to help save children from poverty around the world. There is great power in numbers and you can start right now with the children in your classroom and in your school. Did you know there are over 50 million students in the United States? How many students are there worldwide? How many schools does it take to educate all these students? How many classrooms? What if every classroom decided to take a stand against poverty and donated money every month to a charity that helped impoverished children? What a huge difference we would make in the world! And it all can start with you and your classroom.

In most instances it costs less than $20 a month to sponsor a child. This contribution helps feed the child and his family and provides basic necessities such as clothing, bedding, pots for cooking and school supplies. When was the last time your parents bought you a game, toy or CD that cost $20? How many items do you have in your own bedroom costing this much that you don't even use anymore? How much money do you spend a month on snacks, movies, games? How would you feel if you knew by giving up just a few pennies a day, you could make a difference in the life of another child? Do you know what it is like to go to bed hungry or to not have a bed to sleep in? Many of us take these things for granted when we are safe and warm in our homes with soft beds and full bellies. It is not just in foreign countries that children go to bed hungry. There are children right here in the United States that need your help. By sponsoring a child in the United States or in another country, you can learn so much about them. One of the reasons why people have problems with one another is because of fear, fear about people they don't even know; fear about their lifestyles, their customs, their religions, their cultural differences. The more we know and the more we understand about others, the less we fear; the fewer problems there will be between people and between countries. Ask your teacher to help your class sponsor a child or make a donation to an organization that helps children and families.

Together we can make a difference! I would love to hear from you and your class about what it was like to sponsor a child or donate to an organization that helps children and their families. Please let me know what you learned and how this knowledge helped you. You may e-mail me at: info@children-helping-children.com. Thank you, Susan Randlett
