The CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN (CHC) initiative was established in 2001 to disseminate information to schools and educational institutions throughout the United States and other established countries. We seek to assist impoverished children around the world through the generosity of contributors, primarily children sponsoring other children.
Our primary purpose is to enhance human dignity and raise the physical and educational standards of living for all children to achieve health, happiness and a meaningful existence here on earth.
Our secondary purpose is to break the barriers of prejudice and to build a tolerant and compassionate network intrinsically established in future generations, the new leaders of this world, our children today.

How it Works

Schools, by virtue of minimal personal contributions of their students, will sponsor an impoverished child or children throughout the United States or other parts of the world. Standard monthly contributions for one child range from $18-$25 US dollars. CHC has provided a preliminary list of worldwide charitable foundations; many have contributed aid to the world's poorest children and their families for years. You may choose one of these organizations or, if you prefer, one of your own. A primary concern when joining a venture such as this is: Where will our money be spent? For this reason, a list of philanthropic organizations that provide consumers with valuable financial information about nonprofit agencies is included. Please click on CHECK YOUR CHARITY for more information. CHC is sole supported and receives no financial remuneration from any of the charities listed or from any other source.
The precise mechanism by which this initiative will work is up to the individual school and teacher. You may receive more information by clicking on EDUCATORS. It can be easily integrated into the curriculum through lesson plans, for example, on "tolerance" or "the art of giving" or in the academic milieu such as a social studies class. A sample lesson plan is provided that may be adapted for various grade levels. Just click on LESSON PLAN.
While the sponsored children will receive the obvious benefits of the program, the sponsoring children will perhaps gain even more:
  • Learn invaluable, lifelong lessons such as tolerance, compassion, gratitude, teamwork and a true appreciation for what they have.
  • Experience the grace of giving without expecting anything in return.
  • Acquire knowledge about children from other regions on a very personal level.
  • Discover how easily we are all connected in this world.

Think of the holiday season, when children get caught up in the spirit and joy of giving selflessly to others. Wouldn't it be wonderful to keep this positive energy alive all year long? This one idea has the capacity to reach hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of children around the world. Imagine the possibilities! Please become a part of this international adventure. If you take the first step, your children will do the rest.
